This page summarises the major policies of the Club, fully documented in the Club Regulations (PDF download). If you join the Club you should consult that document and not rely on the brief summaries presented here.

Equal Opportunity

The Club is committed to the University's Equal Opportunities Policy. The Club aims to ensure that members and visitors are treated on their relative merits, abilities and potential, regardless of their sex, gender reassignment, relationships, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, age, socio-economic background, or other distinction. The Club does not have sufficient resources to offer sailing and windsurfing to all disabled people.

Conduct of Members

Members, and any guests they bring to an event, are expected to behave appropriately in their sailing and social activities, so as not to render the Club liable to criticism or bring the Club into disrepute.

Health, Safety, Welfare

Our Health, Safety, and Welfare polices follow Cambridge University Sport guidelines. It is the responsibility of the Commodore to ensure these policies are kept up-to-date. Each section manages the day-to-day health, safety, and welfare of its activities by its Health & Safety and Welfare Officers, and Trip Coordinators. Risk assessments for dinghy sailing and windsurfing are maintained in the Club Regulations (pages 7 and 8 respectively). A dynamic risk assessment (page 9) is completed for each trip.
Accidents deemed reportable under CU Sports health and safety policy must be reported by completing the standard online CU Sports Injury Report (opens in a new window), and then notifying the Commodore. This is in addition to complying with the relevant Grafham Water SC procedures.
Direct your queries concerning CU Sport health and safety arrangements to the Sports Service Head of Operations. If you have a query on welfare you should email CU Sport Welfare. If your welfare matter is confidential, contact Assistant Director of Sport Karen Pearce (01223 762954).

Data Protection

The Club is active in direct marketing, mainly email marketing but also telemarketing to alumni, and follows the guidelines and good practices of the Direct Marketing Association (opens in a new window). Details of the data maintained for current students, members, and alumni will be found in the Data Protection section of the Club's website (opens in a new window).

Club Administration

University Regulation
The Club is currently registered with the Sports Service and the Proctors Office (open in a new windows). Registration arrangements for sports clubs will change during 2017-20 as new arrangements for Cambridge sport are finalised.
